Frequently asked questions
Do you take insurance?
No. We do not bill insurance. However, if your insurance covers acupuncture, we can provide you with a receipt, or "Superbill," which you can submit for reimbursement. Make sure you call your insurance company to see what they cover, and how much they reimburse.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Since each patient is different, everyone feels the needles differently. However, there is usually a sensation associated with needle insertion. This tells the practitioner and the patient that the needle is doing its work. Often sensations can feel like warmth, a dull pulsing sensation, or a pleasant feeling of heaviness. It should be noted that the acupuncture needles are nothing like the large hypodermic needles used in doctor's offices and hospitals. Acupuncture needles are solid, and the width of a few human hairs.
Are the needles sterile?
YES! Absolutely! All needles are sterile, single use, filiform needles
Can I get acupuncture if I don't have anything specifically wrong with me?
Definitely. In fact, in ancient China, acupuncture was used more as preventive medicine than anything else. Many patients come for prevention, relaxation, and to maintain health once they are feeling better. Read Emma's blog post on this subject for more information
